Yesterday I assembled the tracks. Today I primed and base coated. No time for a photo as I was almost late leaving for work as it was.

I was at a model show both days this weekend where I painted up the waterproofing.

I'm not sure when to add the black oil paint, normally I do all the detail painting at this stage but I'm worried I'll just smear the oils during weathering if I don't leave them long enough to dry.

Whilst at the show I also started the Mk ICS. These were Mk I tanks with the 2pounder turret gun swapped for a second 3" howitzer. Several of those belonging to the North Irish Horse also had their commander cupolas replaced with salvaged Pz III ones for better visibilty.

There was a competition at the show and as it seemed a little empty I entered my Mk V, Ballyrashane and got Bronze in the Military Vehicle catergory.

That Mk I CS is a wonderfully weird looking contraption, especially with the German cupola on top.

I wish AFV Club would finally get some Mk Is and IIs out, especially with ITA going away soon... :?

The oils, when applied thickly (such as I did for my waterproofing) take a while to dry. First step would be to put a blob of the oil paint onto a paper towel to draw out as much oil as you can and this will quicken drying time. After applying, put the model in a container to keep dust particles away during the drying process. Once dry, you can apply a protective coat of acrylic clear.

The oils for the waterproofing of the carpet layer have been applied and had a week to dry.

The paint around the green stuff looks alright, I think I should have gone over the hatches with something like white glue before painting to seal them off better, something to keep in mind for the next one ;)

While that was drying I've been working on the Mk ICS which is almost finished, mostly detailing left to do now.

The Pz III cupola is smaller in diameter than the Churchills and as the cupola sits on a bearing race I think they would have had to add an adaptor plate to get it to fit so I've put a disc of sheet styrene the diameter of the Churchill cupola to bridge the gap. I still want to add some weld beads to it.
