Re: The potentially rather long Churchill Blog
The milliput is back off and I think I will use Garys oil paint method, at least for the bostick paste. I've been doing some general assembly and made a start on the base. This is the general idea of what I want it to look like.
This is why I wanted to be able to check track lengths The lower part will be sand, the upper part a concrete hard standing. Most of the sand will be covered with the carpets anyway.

Re: The potentially rather long Churchill Blog
Almost finished with the build side of this now, main stumbling block for me now is whether to add lights or not and how the electrics would have been waterproofed.
The styrene rod was used to replace broken kit parts, on reflection I should have done that for all the bracing wires. I also lost one of the brackets and one was not on the sprue. Need to prepare a set of indy tracks and start thinking about the base.

Re: The potentially rather long Churchill Blog
I watched the film on the biggest screen we have, ie the TV in the living room and was able to make out some more details. The head and side lights are fitted with the side lights next to the headlights, not on the track guards. There are no spare track links fitted and the tank has early, heavy cast pattern tracks (not supplied with the kit). There is a turret box fitted although I'm not sure if I can doctor my waterproofing to allow one to be fitted. There are tow cables fitted, I'll add those after paint.
The little jobs are done, tracks next.
